Warning: This is going to be a long post! 🙂
I am soooo excited to tell you all about my trip to Cabo San Lucas! Since last year, I have been planning the ultimate Melanin Spring Break for me and 20 other individuals who wanted to tag along (they were really my closest friends and family). Our group originally started off as 6 couples…and then quickly increased to 20 people! Look at God! (LOL)
When deciding where to travel this Spring, I was torn between visiting my family in Trinidad for Carnival, or going somewhere else equally tropical and beautiful. The votes were in, and Cabo San Lucas was the winner! This was my first time traveling to Mexico, and also my first time staying at an all-inclusive resort… I was excited and nervous at the same time. In Cabo, we enjoyed 5 nights and 6 days at the Riu Santa Fe (click here for my resort review). While on vacation, we decided to book an ATV tour and a Booze Cruise excursion, to experience Cabo San Lucas to the fullest.Â
The companies that I am writing about did not sponsor any excursions in this blog post. I used my own coins, so I will provide my OWN review!
Saturday (Day 1)- We arrived in Cabo San Lucas on Saturday from Washington DC. Our travel agent booked us round trip ground transportation with Olympus Tours. I highly recommend having your transportation booked ahead of time, because the drive from the airport to Riu Sant Fe was around 45 minutes, but it was beautiful. Admiring the view, seeing all of the different luxury resorts, and enjoying a drink in the sprinter…probably the most relaxing part of the trip LOL. Once we arrived to the resort, we received our drink bands, and immediately the drinks started flowing. We quickly put on our bathing suits and enjoyed our first full day by the pool in Cabo San Lucas!
Â
Sunday (Day 2)- We were not prepared for the time change, and pretty much everyone was up around 5am. The girls decided to get a head start with the day, and take photos on the beach while watching the sunrise. Now THAT was breathtaking. We finished around 8am, and “Sunday Funday” finally began. We made a huge section by the pool, brought out the speakers, and enjoyed each others company while we waited for some of the other group members to arrive from North Carolina! We ended the night talking by the pool, and attending one of the resorts night clubs…which was beyond interesting.Â
Monday (Day 3)- Monday was considered our “Adventure Day”. I booked our ATV tour through Travelocity (click here), and it was well worth the money! The company picked us up from Riu Santa Fe, and brought us to the “ranch” where we had a 2-3 hours ATV excursion. I’m not going to lie, this was probably the most fun I’ve had in years. We followed the trail through the beach all the way up to the mountains. These pictures can’t even show you how amazing the view was! I will say please read the fine print, and pay the ATV insurance so you can go as fast as you want. Once we got home from being out in the wilderness, everyone quickly showered, grabbed lunch, and it was time for the jungle pool party! Now Riu Santa Fe knows how throw a pool party…I don’t even know how to show you guys through pictures the amount of fun we had (and honestly I don’t even think I am allowed to show footage from there LOL)…but listen…it was REAL!
On Tuesday (Day 4), we originally did not have anything planned, until my mom suggested a boat tour/booze cruise, which included alcohol and food. The food was ACTUALLY good (finally) , and the tequila was flowing non-stop. Even though we shared the boat with 30 other people…it was just great having a break from the resort, and being on the ocean. You can find this excursion by going to the Marina, or Travelocity. The booze cruise includes snorkeling as well, for those who don’t mind diving in the saltiest water ever. Once we returned home, we decided to eat dinner as a big group at one of the resort Italian restaurants. To my surprise, my boyfriend (with the help of my mom) surprised me with some goodies from Tiffany’s! I was sooo shocked, and of course I had my Kim K cry face the entire time. I will NOT show footage of that cry fest, haha!
Wednesday (Day 5)- On our last day, the exhaustion was real! We decided, as a group, to relax by the pool and enjoy each other’s company before our flights on Thursday morning. Little did we know- it was going to be another full blown pool party. Some where in the midst of this turn up, we all decided to go off the resort and enjoy some food by the Marina (best decision!!).Â
This trip, and the group, was beyond anything I could ever imagine. It was so memorable, that while we were on this trip the group decided we should plan something again VERY soon. Once we touched down in the USA, we began planning our Dominican Republic excursion this October, and also Jamaica in 2020. This will not be the last time you see us! 😉
I hope you enjoyed seeing a snapshot of our Melanin Vacation, leave any comments or questions below..I would loveeee to hear your thoughts on Cabo! If you have recently traveled to Cabo, drop in the comments some resorts and other excursions we should have planned!
Infamously Yours,Â
Joi
