I’m not even going to bore you guys with the long intro on why we picked Costa Rica! Check out my blog post about staying at the Riu Palace Costa Rica for all of that tea. I’m going to jump straight into our vacation ins and outs.
While planning this vacation, I knew that I didn’t want to stay as long as I stayed in Mexico (6 full days). So I decided maybe 4 full days is enough. This vacation flew by so fast, I wish I had an extra day to do more exploring. On Wednesday we caught an early morning flight to Liberia Costa Rica. (If you are trying to be close to the ocean, I suggest flying here instead of San Jose Costa Rica!). We landed in Liberia at 12:00pm, where we had transportation from LAR Transportation waiting for us. I highly recommend them, it was 22 dollars round trip per person, you can’t beat that!
We finally arrived to the Riu Palace Costa Rica(40 minutes later), and the party instantly started…
Our first day was really geared towards drinking, and enjoying being in a new country….you know how we do- we turn up immediately. Lol, but that is legit all we did the first day, drink and hang by the pool area. I won’t even show you all footage from the first day. Just know, we were all hurt the next morning.
On our second day, we got a very early start so we can make it out to the pool, and be the first ones in line for the beach chairs. Sadly, we were wayyyy to eager, and waited by the pool for literally 2 hours before the pool bar opened. We was PRESSED. We spent the entire day by the pool/beach. It was honestly so relaxing. After our long pool day (when I say long, we were out there from 8am to 7pm), we finally decided to grab dinner, hang out by the bar, and listen to live music.
During our pool day, we walked out to the beach and found this amazing company that specialized in excursions, and we talked them down to a REALLY nice price. I highly recommend if you are going to go during rainy season (September-October), you talk your excursions down, it is worth it. So we planned for everyone to enjoy a great ATV tour of Guanacaste, and then possibly jet skis. Pause, story time: Originally I had us booked for a private boat tour to tour 3 beaches etc. The boat company legit called me the day before saying that their boat did not pass inspection. I didn’t want to chance waiting for them to get this boat situation poppin- so instead we just went with another tour company. [This company was also highly recommended by TripAdvisor…like how?!]
Friday was adventure day! We were down by the beach at 8:30am for our ATV tour. When I say these tour guides took us everywhere, we went everywhere. Through the mountains, the jungles, the town, and the beach. It was so beautiful to actually get out of the resort and see what is going on. If I had to compare our ATV tour from Cabo to Costa Rica….Costa Rica def wins!! The tour guides were so fun, and they allowed us full range for speed etc.
Finally Saturday happened, and it was our last day! Which I am not going to lie…this was super bitter sweet. To be honest, Saturday was literally the hottest day of the entire trip. I was on FIRE. We spent the morning doing jet ski’s (with the same tour company). This was my first time, and I have to say I will add Jet-skiing to my list of activities when I go out of the country from now on. Once we finished, we spent the rest of our day literally sitting and drinking by the pool.
We called it quits on Sunday, and made our way back to the United States!
This was such an amazing trip, and I’m glad we were able to go to celebrate my boyfriend turning 30! Like seriously….I can’t wait until I turn 30 ahha get an international trip! 😉 I never say this…but I would 1000% go back to Costa Rica! And that says alot, because I don’t go many places more than once.
I also apologize for not going into so much detail like I did for our Cabo vacation, but I will let the pictures do the explaining:
